Six tips for heating your home efficiently with air conditioning

Here we share our top tips for heating your home efficiently with your air conditioning system:

Set your thermostat to a low temperature that you feel comfortable with. 18-21°C tends to be comfortable for most people.  The lower the temperature you set your thermostat to, the less energy your air conditioner will use.

Use a programmable thermostat to set temperatures for different times of the day and night. This can help you save energy when you are not home or when you are sleeping.

Make sure you prevent air leaks around your windows and doors that allow heat to escape from your home by using caulk or weatherstripping.  These can force your air conditioner unit to work harder to heat your home which consumes more energy.

Keep your home well insulated.  Insulating your attic and walls helps to retrain heat in your home during the winter and out of your home during the summer. This will help to ensure that your air conditioner work more efficiently.

Clean your air conditioner’s filters.  Dirty air filters can restrict airflow and make your air conditioner work harder. You should check your air conditioner’s filters every month and replace them as needed.  We will also clean them as standard as part of our regular service.

Use your air conditioner’s fan setting to circulate the air in your home without heating or cooling it. This can help to distribute the heat evenly throughout your home and make it feel more comfortable.
